When you need parts to repair a Realist stereo camera, you can either cannibalize another camera, or attempt to purchase just the required parts. Sources for Realist parts include:
- 3D by DrT
George Themelis
10243 Echo Hill Drive
Brecksville OH 44141-3605
USA
(440) 838-4752George ("DrT") can also provide some repair services for your Realist camera, and he specializes in service of stereo viewers, especially the Realist Red Button viewer.
- Ron Zakowski
RR2 Box 638 Oak Haven Circle
Wautoma, WI 54982-9740
USA
(414) 566-2323Ron is an engineer who helped design some of the things on the Realist and bought all Realist materials from the company when he retired. Ron is more likely than anyone else to have the part you need for your Realist products. Contact him by phone to discuss your situation.
In years past, Ron was also the #1 recommended repairman for Realist cameras. Unfortunately, numerous reports indicate that the wait for the return of your equipment could run to several months to even several years, so we do not recommend sending equipment to Ron for repair at this time.
Also useful for DIY stereo camera repairs are repair manuals from Ed Romney, especially "Basic Training" and "Realist Repair Manual"; and Jess Powell's stereo camera repair videos.
Note that Mr. Romney passed away in 2003. We have no information regarding the future availability of his products. Mr. Powell's videos can be purchased directly from him, or from DrT.
